The majority of the provincial education departments have opposed the decision of reopening of the educational institutes in the country from the 1st of June.
During a meeting that held today, the education departments of Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh opposed the decision of the reopening of the institutes while the government of KP has supported the decision. The meeting was led by Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister for Education.
The provinces said in the conference of the inter-provincial education ministers’ that the educational institutes should remain shut as the COVID-19 cases might increase significantly.
Owing to the disagreement between the provinces, the decision was taken that the matter would be put on the table during the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) meeting.
All the provincial ministers have taken part via the video link.
A day previously, the federal cabinet agreed to further relax the lockdown after the 9th of May, however, the final verdict was left to the NCC.
On the other hand, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) has taken the decision of relaxing the admission process.
