Sindh’s Health department is pondering on a draft to issue an advisory requesting a bar on the public events in Karachi, after 9 new coronavirus cases were confirmed, as per the reports of local media.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the health department which was held on Tuesday morning under the guidance of the Sindh minister for health. The meeting also suggested setting up of a health desk at the airport.
With the assistance of the help desk, all the ones entering Karachi via the airport would be screened for the coronavirus. A spokesperson for the health department said that the health desks would also be set up at the hospitals.
The help desks at the hospitals, named the front-line desks, would be offering up-to-date information about the spread of the virus in the city.
A suggestion to close schools in the province of Sindh for a longer span would also be sent to the CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
A hospital in Gadap would be treating the affected ones with the coronavirus, as informed by the spokesperson.
A proposition to annul the events like the Pakistan Super League would also be forwarded to the government, as affirmed by the spokesperson.
PCB’s spokesperson has said that the board was in touch with the government of Sindh about the new advisory suggested by the health authorities and a proposal to bar public gatherings in the port city.
The spokesperson said that the PCB officials are in constant contact with the government of Sindh and attending all the meeting about the PSL matches in the city.
He also said that whatever the government suggests, the PCB would be implementing it. The matches in Karachi are scheduled from March 12.
