President PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif, in his recent hearing with the Accountability Court, requested to unfreeze their assets.
The judge of the court, Jawadul Hassan directed the counsel to forward the final arguments until the next hearing. The date of the next hearing is set to be November 7th.
Shehbaz Sharif stated in his plea that NAB has frozen his family’s properties without taking into consideration the actual facts as assets can’t be frozen at a time during the investigation.
In December 2019, NAB Lahore froze 23 properties belonging to Shehbaz Sharif, his sons, and other family members in the income beyond means and money laundering case under Section 12 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
The frozen properties include two houses in Model Town (Lahore) and Nishat Lodges in Donga Gali (Murree) under the name of Shehbaz Sharif’s wife, Nusrat Shehbaz.
Another cottage, a villa, and a plot in Haripur and two houses in Defence Lahore were acquired by Shehbaz in the name of his other wife, Tehmina Durrani.
The report also highlighted that other properties included land with an area of over 390 Kanal in Chiniot in the name of Hamza Shehbaz and Suleman Shehbaz. Nine plots with an area of 5 marlas each in Jauhar Town and a 5-Kanal house in Judicial Colony Lahore in the name of Hamza Shehbaz were also sealed.
