Mian Saqib Nisar—the Chief Justice of Pakistan has suggested to restore mobile phone cards tax. The restoration of the tax on a load of Prepaid mobile phone cards would assist in collecting the funds for the building of the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams.
This news was given out by the apex court judges while giving an address to the dam fundraising ceremony in the United Kingdom. It was mentioned in the address that it would not be proper to collect funds for the making of dams by imposing the tax, but they had been suspended previously by the mobile phone service providers and it was learnt that via this three billion rupees were saved each month. If the nation permits, then we would be re-imposing the tax on the top-up of prepaid cards and gather money for the dam fund.
Indeed, this would be bad news for the mobile phone users however it is not that bad if the objective behind is kept in consideration.
Earlier, the Supreme Court (SC) suspended the imposed taxes on a load of prepaid cards by the mobile phone service providers and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). For sure, that decision was a great source of satisfaction for the people of Pakistan.
