According to recent updates from the power sector, Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) managed to induct 40 Independent Private Power (IPPs) projects.
The projects are based on some 17,551 MW power and attracted an investment of around $17 billion.
It was informed that these IPPs were around 50% of the country’s present installed generation capacity.
PPIB attracted some leading international and local investors and lenders to the Pakistan Power Sector and contributed to the development of domestic capital markets.
PPIB is also advancing the development of small hydropower projects in the country. These projects included 700.7 MW Azad Pattan, 1,124 MW Kohala, 102 MW Gulpur, 870 MW Suki Kinari, 720 MW Karot Hydropower Projects.
Sources also informed that a 102 MW Gulpur Hydropower Project is already under its projection whereas 84 MW New Bong Hydropower Project, the first hydro IPP in AJK had been approved.
