The power division has taken the decision of taking strict action against the electricity defaulters, as per the statement issued by the Power Division.
The statement read that electricity distribution firms are actively involved in this matter.
Detailed lists of the operating and dead or disconnected defaulters encompassing their complete information have been drafted by the DISCOs.
In the initial phase, lists of all the defaulters across Pakistan having more than Rs1million would be published after the deadline of the 30th of this month that is 30th April.
These lists would also be posted on the websites of the concerned DISCOs and Power Information Technology Company website.
As per the orders of Power Division after April 30 of this month, these defaulters would be prosecuted against including proceeding to act of properties of defaulters under the current revenue laws.
The DISCOs would assure that no dead or disconnected defaulters get electricity from any other alternative source.
In the same way, the connections of running defaulters would be disconnected after the deadline of payment of dues and their properties would be proceeded against as per the revenue laws.
Previously on the 24th of April, Omer Ayub—the Minister for Power had made the claims to have recovered Rs5billion from the power sector during the last 4months throughout the nation.
While responding to a calling attention notification moved by the Minister for Power and Fazal Muhammad had said that the current government started a drive for improving the recovering and for checking up on the power theft.
