Most famous frozen food brands K&N’s, Dawn Foods, Mon Salwa have been recalled over poor quality. These brands have been found to contain an excessive amount of fatal bacteria. These companies have recalled their products.
Punjab Food Authority (PFA) found high quantities of Listeria Monocytogenes and other bacteria when it analyzed the latest poultry and meat products.
Listeria Monocytogenes is basically a foodborne bacteria which is fatal to an individual’s health if it is consumed in large quantity. Symptoms like fever, flu-like symptoms, nausea, and diarrhea are caused by bacteria.
An infection is caused called Listeriosis that is responsible for 1,600 illnesses and 260 deaths in the US. It is listed as the third deadliest infection that causes deaths among foodborne bacterial pathogens. The fatality rate exceeds Salmonella spp. and Clostridium Botulinum.
115 total samples were taken out of which 84 passed while 16 failed on quality parameters and 15 failed on safety parameters.
PFA has taken action over the failure of meeting the basic standards provided by the authority.
The actions are as follows Sabroso is fined with Rs. 25,000, Hamza Foods is fined with Rs. 100,000, Mon Salwa is fined with Rs. 25,000, Seasons is fined with Rs. 50,000, K&N’s is fined with Rs. 75,000 + EPO, Dawn Foods is fined with Rs. 125,000, Big Bird is fined with Rs. 25,000, Quick Foods is fined with Rs. 25,000, and Sabir’s Poultry is fined with Rs. 25,000. The total fine is Rs. 475,000.
