Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that despite economic difficulties, he congratulated the provincial government for providing universal health insurance of Rs. 1 million per family to all citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with domicile.
The Prime Minister in his tweet termed the move of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a bold decision and said that it was the first step towards realizing the dreams of the founders of Pakistan and towards a welfare state, Dawn Reported.
He added that this policy is only used in a few developed countries instead of the United States. I am proud of the initiative taken by our Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and I hope all other provinces will follow suit. We are also moving in the same direction in the federation.
Earlier, the Prime Minister while addressing the launching ceremony of Health Justice Card termed it as a historic step. On the occasion, a memorandum of understanding MoU was signed between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and State Life Insurance to provide universal health insurance to the people of the province. Under the scheme, 6 million families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be provided health insurance of up to Rs. 1 million in 250 public and private hospitals across the province.
