Prime Minister—Imran Khan has instructed to promote e-governance in the government offices. He showed serious concerns over the insignificant growth in some important government ministries towards practising e-solutions for doing official business activities.
He was heading a meeting on Information Technology and Telecommunication in the federal capital on Thursday.
The prime minister gave a task to Dr Ishrat Hussain to form a detailed roadmap with outlined timelines to make sure to transform towards the paper-less culture in all the ministries and departments of the federal government.
Imran Khan was told about the current outlook of Information Technology and the telecom sector in the country and its contribution to the national economy.
He showed serious concern over the insignificant development in some important ministries towards e-solutions for managing official business operations.
He said that the Prime minister office would take the lead towards e-office to be abided by all the ministries. He also ordered formulating a mechanism to organize and provide IT professionals in payments for their expertise and knowledge.
The decision was also taken that a committee would be formed in consultation with the Finance Minister and the IT Minister.
The briefing session was attended by Asad Umar—the Finance Minister, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui—the Minister for IT and Telecom, Dr Ishrat Hussain—the Advisor to PM, Syed Ali Haider—the Minister for Maritime Affairs and other senior officers of concerned ministries.
