In the interbank session today, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 33 paisa against USD and closed at PKR 158.93 per USD. The previous day it stood at PKR 159.26 per USD.
According to data, PKR saw a dull trading session with very little intraday movement, trading in a range of 10 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 159.00 and an intraday low offer of 158.95. Furthermore, within the Open Market, PKR was quoted at 159.00/159.60 per USD.
PKR also appreciated by 36 paisa against GBP and closed at PKR 220.83 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 221.2 per GBP.
The local currency also appreciated by 80 paisa against EUR and closed at PKR 191.58.
It is said that within the money market, SBP conducted an Open Market Operation in which it cleaned up Rs. 36 billion for 1 day at 6.89%.
The overnight repo rate towards the close of the session was 6.80/6.90%, while the 1-week rate stood at 7.00/7.05%.
