PIA closed its direct flights to the US since October 2017. Since then the demand to resume it was increasing. Now finally PIA is soon starting direct flights to the US.
The national air carrier, Pakistan International Airlines, invited the Transport Security Administration (TSA) team of the US for Islamabad Airport security clearance. They will arrive in the federal capital on July 17th and 18th 2019.
This will be a blessing for overseas Pakistan who can enjoy a direct flight just of 16 hours without any hassle of changing terminals or hours of delays at airports.
As of now, passengers use other airlines that make a stop at their hubs which has resulted is some flights taking over 24 hours to reach the US.
Earlier none of the Pakistani airports were cleared by TSA. This is why PIA used mid-point TSA cleared airports at Manchester or Barcelona to fly to the US. This not just increased the operating cost but also PIA had to suspend its operations in the US since 2017.
Now that the New Islamabad International Airport is up and running for over an years and the security apparatus at Islamabad is set up, PIA will work with TSA to get the clearance for New Islamabad Airport and then start direct flight operations to the US.
