PIA would be starting its direct flights to the US from next year.
As per sources, the national flag carrier would be starting its flight operations to the United States from April 2020 as the preparations for this have entered into the final phase.
The national flag carrier would be seeking permission from the American officials for it other than providing the related documents and plans.
The sources revealed that PIA would make use of its long-range Boeing 777 aircraft for the flight operations to the US. It is important to mention that a team of the homeland security of the US has paid a visit for reviewing the arrangements for the commencement of direct flights at the federal capital and Karachi airports.

Furthermore, the US transport security authority had also finalized its audit of the PIA planes and the security measures on the airports. The officials of the security agency had shown their satisfaction with the security arrangements.
The development came to light after the successful visit of the Chief Executive Officer of PIA to the US where he met with the high-level officials from the aviation industry, TSA, airport authorities and others.
In March, the American authorities had given a green signal to PIA for the direct flight operations to the US.
PIA suspended its direct flight operations to the United States because of financial losses of the organization.

The PIA administration has begun the implementation of its business plan in the month of October focusing on the strategy of making the national entity into a profitable organization.
PIA has surged its routes up to 13 and the number of flights to many nations for generating additional revenue, as informed by the sources.
