PIA to add 12 new planes to its fleet by 2023.
On Tuesday the Prime Minister Imran Khan gave approval to Pakistan International Airlines—PIA to buy additional planes for its present fleet.
As per a press release issued by the spokesperson of the airline, the decision was taken during a meeting of the aviation sector. The meeting was attended by Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar Khan—the Federal Minister for Aviation, Shahrukh Nusrat—the Aviation Secretary, Dr Hafeez Shaikh—the Adviser to the PM on Finance and Air Marshal Arshad Malik—the PIA chief executive.
During the meeting, the airline chief gave the PM a detailed briefing on the future requirements of the aircraft as well as about the airline’s business plan.

PM Khan gave directives for the improvement of the airline and for increasing the travelling facilities. He ordered the finance ministry for cooperating with the national flag carrier for buying the new planes.
As per the Air Marshal Arshad Malik, overall 12 new planes would be added to the fleet of PIA by 2023. In the initial stage, 4 planes would be added to the fleet by 2020.
The PIA chief said that the planes would be medium in size and would be used for the internal and regional routes of travel.
Air Marshal Malik thanked the PM for his decision and said that the size of the PIA’s fleet would increase up to 45 by 2023.
