It was reported earlier that Emirates is planning to cut its flights to Pakistan. Well, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is aiming to utilize this opportunity and grab the slots left by Emirates Airline. Due to the maintenance work that will go on at the Dubai Airport, Emirates has decided to reduce its flights to Pakistan and PIA has welcomed this opportunity.
PIA spokesperson Mashhood Tajwar said, “PIA is considering availing of this opportunity.” (the slots left by Emirates).

Tajwar said that PIA is working rigorously to revamp the airline by working on new strategies. The national carrier is redesigning some of its routes including Sialkot to Sharjah flight, Lahore to Muscat flight etc. New software will developed and better aircraft will be chartered to improve the quality of the airline.
He further said that PIA flight time and seat factor has improved. Also PIA is planning to acquire 4 new aircraft on wet lease in the upcoming three months.
On the other hand the Emirates spokesperson denied the news and said, “Operations to Pakistan will continue as normal and maintains its schedule as published without change.”
The spokesperson said that due to the closure of Dubai International Airport’s southern runway for maintenance work a few of the scheduled flights between Pakistan and Dubai can get affected. This will just be between the period 16th April to 30th May 2019.
He said that with reduced frequencies, during the period Emirates will still serve its travelers at all the gateways in Pakistan.
The PIA spokesperson said, “PIA is fighting back to the tough conditions of market and in the last two months we have improved our seat factor a lot.”
