PIA has taken the decision of cutting down its employees count in order to reduce costs. The national flag carrier would be introducing a voluntary separation scheme to reduce the number of employees. This decision was taken on Wednesday.
The CEO of PIA, Arshad Malik said that no airline in the world with as many as 14,500 employees could exist when it has got a deficit of Rs.400 billion and the liabilities of Rs.100 billion.
He informed that in 2 years time Pakistan International Airline would be among the best airlines in the world.
The Senate Standing Committee on Aviation was told about the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) of PIA for its employees in a meeting on Wednesday.
He added that this scheme would benefit the ones working for the airline.
CEO Malik also said that there are 39 planes in the airline fleet and there are fourteen thousand five hundred employees and they are a contributing factor to the deficit experienced by the airline.
The chairperson of the committee directed the CEO to wind up the issue of fake licenses soon. He also told them to ask the international professionals to come to Pakistan and check on it.
