After the closure of European flights, the PIA has decided to bring their staff back from European countries. According to the details, the management of the national airline has decided to withdraw the staff from Milan, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Barcelona for which orders will be issued this week, after which PIA’s general sales agent in these countries. After that only general sales agents will operate while the return of staff from European destinations will reduce costs.
On the other hand, the management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided not to appeal against the decision of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to suspend the arrival of PIA flights in European countries. The appeal period ended on August 30. The decision was taken by the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) operational safety audit team on September 7 to review PIA’s operational arrangements and control system.
The IATA safety audit team will stay here for five days, Pakistan Airlines will be in a better position to persuade to meet all the conditions laid down. It may be recalled that EASA had sent a written letter to PIA informing it that in addition to the pending issue of implementation of safety management tools in the airline’s flight operations within the stipulated period, it had informed the European Union from July 1. The PIA had suspended the flow of PIA flights to member countries for six months, but the EASA had said that the decision to suspend flights could be appealed in two months and that the two-month period would be August 30 which has ended two days ago.
