The national air carrier of Pakistan, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will begin the Hajj operations by July 4th. The first batch of pilgrims will be taken by PIA on the 4th of July.
The flight schedule for PIA Hajj flights has been announced. It hopes to fly almost 78000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia via 350 special flights. Till August 5th, the pre-Hajj operations will last and the post-Hajj operations will begin from August 17th. They will continue till 14th September.
More than 50,000 pilgrims will fly under the government’s Hajj scheme and 27,000 will fly under private schemes.
From Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa pilgrims flying under the government’s scheme will be charged Rs110,000 and from Karachi and Quetta, they will be charged Rs100,000. In the whole operation, two Boeing 777 and quite a lot of Airbus A320 aircraft will be used.
Ministry of Religious Affairs has been sent the plan and it has already started collecting the airfare from pilgrims.
Over 25,000 pilgrims will be facilitated by the national airline. As Hajj has increased the quota for Pakistan to 200,000 from 184,210, more pilgrims would be flying this year via PIA.
