The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have suspended the meal services on its flight to countries in the Middle East for certain time period. This step has been taken as a preventive measure against the novel coronavirus.
As per the details, PIA will just provide water and beverages that includes soft drinks, juices, black/green tea and coffee to the passengers. This step has been taken to ensure that social distancing protocols are strictly followed to control the spread of the virus.
A letter issued by the airline read, “As per Management’s Directive, Only beverage service (water, soft drinks, juices & Black/Green Tea & Coffee) for pax will be uplifted on all middle-east sector flights i.e. Pak-Middle-East-Pak, till further instruction.”
But the cockpit and cabin crew are excepted from the ban on meal services. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) back on 8th May provided $100,000 worth of protection kits to PIA. This was to protect its crew operation special flights against the novel coronavirus.
The protect kits given to them included gowns, masks and goggles.
There are many flights that PIA is operating to bring back the stranded Pakistanis from different countries as the international flights have been suspended.
