On Saturday, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) resumed its domestic flight operations within the country. It operated two flights from Karachi to Lahore and Islamabad and one from Lahore to Karachi.
As part of the preventive protocol to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, each alternate seat is being left empty in the airplane.
However, the burden of these empty seats is being placed on the passengers. A one-way flight from Karachi to Lahore costs Rs.21,815, as per the website of the national flag carrier. A flight to Islamabad is charging the same rates.
PIA is also to operate flights from Peshawar and Quetta airports.
The traveling agents of the provincial capital of Sindh, have announced to open their offices from Monday, although the government has issued no notification about it.
On the other hand, it has been announced by Pakistan International Airlines that all the airlines will be charging the same fares for domestic flights. As per the spokesperson of the airline. this decision has been taken after the government’s consultation.
