Cargo Business

PIA restores its cargo business.

Air cargo is a proper wide business and airlines do earn money through business too apart from the ticket fares. Cargo is not done in freighter aircraft only, but it is also done by the passenger flights. This business is nowadays thriving once again and this time for the national airline which is PIA (Pakistan International Airlines).

The load factor is maintained in PIA flights 80s and goes up till 90s. This is one of the main reasons for increasing incomes. And especially the mango season was bonus month for the PIA’s cargo business which increased by fifty percent during that span.

The passengers are demanding for carrying fresh products for which PIA has expanded the commodity list and now is offering to carry fresh fruits, fish, meat, vegetables, and other food items.

The value of this business is being realized quickly and PIA is becoming well-known for cargo transport. The value of the goods that the airlines carry exceeded around $7 trillion this year representing more than 35% of global trade by value as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The reason for this turnaround is the bang in the e-commerce industry. Also, there is a rise in the demand for high-value cargo which includes live animals, pharmaceuticals, auto parts, and components, etc.

PIA refreshes its focus on the biggest earners in the aviation industry a few months back when the load factors were decreasing, and it was fast losing the market share to more aggressive carriers.

Records are being achieved regularly with PIA carrying more than 40 tons of cargo in Boeing 777 aircraft. This cargo business has overall increased PIA’s revenues around 41percent which is improving the profitability of PIA.
