PIA Plane Crashes Near Karachi

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane has crashed near the Jinnah International Airport of Karachi. The plane had more than 90 passengers and 8 crew members on board, as per the reports of local media.

The CAA officials have given confirmation that the PIA flight PK-8303 that was flying from Lahore to Karachi crashed in Model Colony. The plane crashed moments before it was expected to land at the Karachi airport.

Eleven bodies have been transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) from the site of the mishap, as per the officials at the health facility. Many injured have also been transferred to the hospital.

Among the survivors is also the President of the Bank of Punjab, Zafar Masood.

As per a spokesperson of the PIA the unfortunate pilot lost control with the air-controller at nearly 2:37 p.m.

Many houses and automobiles were damaged as the plane crashed on them.

Ambulances and the rescue teams reached the site of the incident in order to handle the situation

As per a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) the Army Quick Reaction Force and the Pakistan Rangers Sindh troops reached the site for performing the rescue and relief operations alongside the city administration.

An emergency has been announced in all the main hospitals of the provincial capital owing to the unfortunate incident.
