Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made the announcement that it would be increasing the number of Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia during the holy month of Ramazan.
The decision has been taken owing to a surge in the number of Umrah pilgrims during the holy month.
The additional flights would be starting from May 10 and would last until the 23rd of this month. Flights would be offered from the cities of Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad airports.
Many Pakistani and international pilgrims pay a visit to the holy mosques situated within the cities of Makkah and Madinah during the blessed month.
The gathering in the holy cities during the month of Ramazan is the second largest gathering of pilgrims after Hajj, especially in the last ten days that is the last Ashra of Ramazan.
As per the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Riyadh has given out more than 6.2million visas for Umrah since the start of the present Umrah season.
As of April 25, Pakistan has got the highest number of Umrah Pilgrims, which is more than 1.3million, after Pakistan there comes the Indonesian pilgrims and then Indian pilgrims with 0.8million and 0.5million pilgrims respectively.
The step taken by the national flag carrier to increase the flights would be helping the pilgrims and would accommodate the maximum number of Pakistanis who would be traveling to perform Umrah during the blessed month.
