PIA has distributed free tickets worth Rs.10crore in the earlier tenure.
Over the past 10 years, Pakistan International Airlines—PIA has allegedly distributed the free plane tickets among the different politicians and bureaucrats, resulting in extensive losses to the national exchequer.
The apex court of Pakistan has taken the issue and has instructed the national flag carrier to carry out an audit which has brought in significant irregularities into consideration.

As per an audit report, PIA during the last few years, has issued plane tickets costing Rs.100 million to these people. The ex-PIA chairmen, pilots, businessmen, politicians and bureaucrats are the ones who took advantage of these plane tickets.
From the month of July 2016 to September 2018, PIA has bared a total loss of Rs.18.7 million in the form of free plane tickets. Back in 2016, plane tickets of worth Rs.2.4 million were offered to 122 personalities.
Free plane tickets worth Rs.5.6 million were disseminated among 356 passengers in the year 2017. During the first 8 months of 2018, 356 free plane tickets of worth Rs.10.8 million were provided.
As per the officials of PIA, an audit report has already been submitted.
