PIA has closed its Karachi to Dalbandin route. As per the national flag carrier, the route has been closed owing to the financial losses. Residents had been urging for the route’s restoration.
A PIA official based in Karachi told the local media that recently Pakistan International Airline was undergoing a decrease in the number of passengers in its ATR aircraft route PK-521 and often most seats were unoccupied. Furthermore, the route had been converted as an extra section for some time, as informed by a PIA official based in Dalbandin.

The flight is often taken by the Chinese engineers working on the Saindak copper-gold mine project situated near the Saindak town in Chagai district of Baluchistan and could still be used by them but they would be required to book the aircraft as a chartered plan whenever they need, further informed by the official based in Dalbandin.
In the meantime, the shutting down of the PIA service from Karachi to Dalbandin had left many people not that pleased with the decision and they have asked for the restoration of the route on the social media platforms.
People from Chagai, Washuk district and Iran gives preference to travel by air to Karachi as the fare was in range and covering the 1,400 kilometres distance from Dalbandin city to Karachi by road takes many hours, as mentioned by some of the residents.
