The CEO of PIA Arshad Malik has given orders on Friday to transform the Karachi Airport hotel into a quarantine centre amid coronavirus outbreak, as per the reports of local media.
According to the shared details, the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) gave directives after the NDMA asked to make the quarantine centre at PIA airport hotel near to the Jinnah International Airport for the coronavirus patients coming from abroad.
The decision has come after Pakistan has reported its 3rd death because of the coronavirus epidemic and the surge in the cases of affectees from the virus.
On Thursday, the National Disaster Management Authority had asked the provinces to transform all the 3-4 star hotels in to quarantine centres to combat against the coronavirus.
As per sources, the NDMA has written a letter to the federal interior secretary and to all the 4 provincial chief secretaries about the matter.
The letter stated that it is a must to take all the precautionary measures against the COVID-19 according to the WHO instructions.
The province of Gilgit-Baltistan has reported new cases of the virus affected patients today, thus increasing the total count of the COVID-19 patients in Pakistan to 462.
There are 81 confirmed cases in Balochistan, 80 in Punjab, 245 in Sindh, 21 in Gilgit Baltistan, 23 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 in the federal capital and 1 is Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
