The Prime Minister was informed on Wednesday by the concerned authorities that a comprehensive business plan for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would be ready to present by the end of March.
A comprehensive briefing was presented during a meeting that was attended by the Minister for Aviation—Muhammad Mian Soomro, CEO PIA—Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood and the Finance Minister—Assad Umar, as informed by the PM office media wing in a press release.
During the meeting the PM said that the privatization of PIA was not a part of the manifesto of PTI, however, they are thinking of bringing reforms in the airlines for saving it from losses.
He observed that the objective of the reforms in PIA was to save it from the continuous losses by turning it into a profit earning body.
The CEO of PIA applauded the Prime Minister regarding the progress on the measures being taken for the revival of the airlines.
A comprehensive briefing regarding the steps for transforming PIA into a profit generating organization and the removal of corrupt elements was also provided.
The secretary Aviation Division also briefed the Prime Minister about the new aviation policy.
The PM instructed that people should be regularly kept posted regarding the measures being taken for the improvement of the Pakistan International Airline affairs.
