PIA Begins Operation on Seven New Routes

It was informed to the Senate Standing Committee that the national air carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had begun flight-operation on seven new destinations and suspended flights on 6 loss-making routes.

Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan chaired the committee meeting and discussed points of public importance raised by the Senator Behramand Khan Tangi. Mainly they were about corruption in New Islamabad International Airport project, the betterment of PIA management during 2019 and briefing the PIA workers’ pension policy.

The committee was informed by a senior PIA official regarding how PIA’s financial health has improved following the opening of new profitable routes.

PIA employees worked hard to make the grounded aircraft functional. He said that it is expected that PIA will generate 5 billion in revenue yearly from the repair of its aircraft.

Also, a senate body was informed about the 200 ghost workers that were fired by the PIA management. He said that seven PIA properties abroad will be offered for rent after renovation.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Air Marshal Arshad Malik.

Earlier we also informed our readers that PIA is starting direct London-Sialkot flights and resuming its flight operations to the US.
