A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has increased the petroleum product prices by Rs. 9 per litre for the month of May.
Once the increase is implemented, the price of petrol per litre will reach Rs. 108. Also in the meeting, it was approved that the diesel price will be raised by Rs. 4.89 per litre. Light diesel price will be raised by Rs. 6.40. Kerosene price will be increased by Rs. 7.46.
The matter of raising the petroleum prices was moved to the ECC by Prime Minister Imran Khan once Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) suggested to raise the prices by over Rs. 14 per litre.
Earlier the Petroleum Division was sent the summary by OGRA proposing to increase the high-speed diesel (HSD), petrol price, kerosene oil price and light diesel oil (LDO) price by Rs4.89 per litrer, Rs14.37 per litre, Rs7.46 per litre and Rs6.40 per litre.
For the month of April, the government increased the oil prices Rs6 per litre due to fluctuation in international oil prices.
