The petrol prices have been increased by Rs4.26 per litre. The government raised the petrol prices on Friday for June 2019. Due to the hike in oil prices worldwide and continuous depreciation of rupee against the dollar, the prices have been increased by the government.
It was recommended by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to increase the petrol prices by Rs8.53 per litre or 7.8%.
The new price of petrol after the increase would be Rs112.68 per litre from Rs108.42 per litre.
It is being claimed that due to high prices of compressed natural gas, the people in Punjab would suffer the most.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been increased. The proposed increase was Rs8.99 per litre. The government has approved an increase of Rs4.50 per litre. So the new price of HSD is Rs126.82 per litre from Rs122.32 per litre.
The price of kerosene oil has been increased by Rs1.69 per litre. The new price of kerosene oil is Rs98.46 per litre from Rs96.77 per litre. Kerosene is used for cooking purposes in areas where LPG is unavailable.
The price of light diesel oil (LDO) is increased by Rs1.68 per litre or 1.7 percent on Ogra’s recommendation. The new price of LDO is Rs88.62 per litre from Rs86.94 per litre. LDO is essential in the industry.
