A new mobile application has been developed by the Peshawar Police department to ensure strict security during Muharram ul Haram in the city.
As per the details shared by the Superintendent of Police for Peshawar city, the newly launched mobile application contains the details about the Muharram processions’ routes and deployment of the police officials.
The police officer further said that all Closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera are also installed in the application.
This application will help the Peshawar police to monitor the Muharram processions and majalis online as well as help in preventing any unwanted incident.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI-led provincial government of Punjab, last week, had imposed a complete ban on the pillion riding for 9th and 10th of Muharram ul Haram across the most populated province of the country. According to the details, the ban on the pillion riding had been imposed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).
It should be noted here that the ban shall not be applicable to women, children, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of the LEAs, and the security agencies in uniform.
Muharram ul Haram is the first month of the year in the Islamic lunar calendar therefore, the New Year starts with the sighting of the crescent of this holy month. A sect of Islam, Shia observes this holy month as a month of mourning globally.
