PEMRA Instructs TV Channels Not to On Air Dramas with Indecent Content

The Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has instructed all the TV channels not to on-air such dramas that have got indecent content.

On Tuesday a notification was issued, warning all the TV channels from airing any content that goes against the normally accepted standards of decency.

The notification revealed that the step has been taken after PEMRA got many complaints back to back against the indent and obscene content being shown in the Pakistani TV dramas on the PERMA Complaint Call Centre and Feedback System, Pakistan Citizen Portal (PCP) as well as on the social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp.

All the TV channels have been barred from on airing dramas which contains indecent scenes or the scenes should be deleted.

It also directed the TV channels to ensure compliance of PEMRA laws and the Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015 or face the consequences.

Legal action would be taken against the ones found violating the instructions.

This is not new that PEMRA has given some objection to the recent content shown on Pakistani channels. Last year in the month of September, an advisory notice was issued to all the TV channels mentioning that Pakistani dramas do not show the real face of the society.
