Besides the warning issued by the government of Balochistan on account of potential threats from TTP, the opposition parties started their protest.
The PDM workers have started gathering at the Ayub Stadium, Quetta. This would be the third protest of PDM to show their power against the PTI government.
PDM leaders Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam Nawaz, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and others have already arrived at the stadium. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto will address the event virtually.
The Balochistan government has placed a ban on pillion riding in Quetta in wake of PDM’s rally. The ban came into effect midnight (Saturday) and remain in place for 24 hours.
Liaquat Shahwani, of the Balochistan government, said on Sunday said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) public gathering.
Liaquat Shahwani further said that bomb-proof vehicles have also been provided to the PDM leadership and roads going to the hotels, where the leadership is residing, are also well protected.
Balochistan government has taken NACTA’s alert seriously.
Earlier, NACTA warned PDM about a potential threat of terrorism from the TTP in Peshawar and Quetta. The government of Balochistan also requested the PDM leaders to postpone their rally.
The source information also stated, NACTA also informed that security forces have recovered explosive devices in a recent raid in Zhob, Balochistan. They believed that those explosive devices were most likely to be used in Quetta and KP.
