PCB’s Cricket Committee will analyze the national team’s poor performance during the recent New Zealand tour today.
The Cricket Committee chairman Iqbal Qasim had resigned after ignoring his recommendations regarding domestic cricket, now Saleem Yousuf has been selected for the post. The first meeting of the cricket committee headed by the 63-year-old former wicketkeeper-batsman, who has played 32 Tests and 86 ODIs for Pakistan, will be held in Lahore on Tuesday.
Other members include former Test captain Wasim Akram, former Test cricketer Umar Gul, women chief Selector Urooj Mumtaz and Ali Naqvi are included. Talking to media before leaving for Lahore, Saleem Yousuf said that the meeting would be important, the defeat of the national team in the series against New Zealand and the performance of the players will be discussed in detail, every aspect will be reviewed in detail, head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis will discuss the players’ games and issues.
He said that after knowing the views of the coaches, the recommendations would be formulated in consultation with the members of the committee and submitted to the Chairman PCB so that the prospects for future improvement could be brightened. The meeting will also review other important issues related to national cricket. It may be recalled that Ali Naqvi will not attend the meeting due to his services as a referee in a domestic cricket match. Moreover, Wasim Akram will be part of the proceedings through a video link.
