The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is competing against time to finish the overhaul work in process presently at the National Stadium of Karachi before it would be hosting the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) third edition.
The PSL-3 final is to take place in Karachi on the 25th of March 2018.
The third edition of Pakistan’s international fame league would be commencing from the 22nd of February 2018 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Two of the three play-offs would be happening in the provincial capital of Punjab—Lahore.
Last year Najam Sethi—Chairman PCB announced that the final of the PSL-3 would be taking place in Karachi and that the National Stadium of Karachi would entirely be renovated for hosting the mega event and would be equipped with all the requirements that might be needed for hosting the final.
The renovation work is underway at the stadium which is expected to cost rupees of 1.5 billion to the Pakistan Cricket Board. However, it could not be said with clarity that whether the work would complete before the deadline of 25th March or not.
As per reports, PCB has taken the decision that the National Stadium of Karachi would host the final match even if the renovation works are not completed on time.
Hashim Raza Zaidi—Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has given assurance to the PCB that KWSB would help the board in the successful arrangement of the PSL-3 final.
KWSB would also be establishing a camp at the stadium and would be having many water tankers, other equipment and rodding machines on the site to meet all the water-related requirements.
Zaidi gave these instructions in a high-profile meeting where many other senior personnel of the organization were also present including the chief engineer—Ghulam Qadir Abbas, Technical Services Managing Director—Asad Ullah Khan, Superintendent engineer east—Imadad Magsi and Superintendent engineer—Rehman Sheikh.
Lahore Qalandars would be reaching UAE today for the PSL, whereas Peshawar Zalmi would be reaching on Friday.
Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultan and Islamabad United would be landing at Emirates on Saturday. The last team to reach UAE on Sunday would be Karachi Kings.
