Patients in Punjab paying extra hospital charges can file the official complaints

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Punjab Healthcare Commission Dr. Shoaib Khan on Wednesday said that the patients who have been charged more than the service charges fixed for February 2020 at the private medical facilities will be given an immediate refund.

For the residents of Punjab, you can either visit the office of Punjab Healthcare Commission or report your problems on their website as the healthcare commission is responsible for monitoring the quality of facilities at the private medical facilities as well as their charges.

While speaking at a morning show on a Pakistani TV channel, the head of the commission said that he has received no complaints so far of any resident being charged extra money. The main reason behind this was because people are unaware of the actual charges.

The head of the commission said that they have told the private medical facilities to charge as per their rates in February 2020 until the commission tells them otherwise.

“We’ve directed private hospitals to display their charges on their websites as well as at the front of their facilities,” Dr Khan added.

This will help people get a better idea of the expenses they will have to bear before admitting themselves or a family member to a private medical facility.

During a TV interview, Dr. Shoaib Khan explained that the Punjab Healthcare Commission will not only look into the complaints of patients who come forward but also review patient records from the month of March.

The patients who are charged extra will be refunded the money and the action will be taken against the medical facilities at fault.
