Pakistan’s World Cup Squad Will Be Announced Today

The ICC Cricket World Cup is just around the corner kicking off on 30th of May, 2019. The 12th  world cup would be played among top 10 teams including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and West Indies.

Pakistan has not yet decided its final world cup squad yet but Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce Pakistan’s world cup squad today. ICC has announced that South Africa will announce their world cup squad today as well.

Pakistan will choose from 23 players to make it a 15-player squad, the players went into fitness tests and training sessions at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for 5 days. In addition to 15-player squad two reserve player will also be included in the upcoming series with England, PCB said in a press release.

Inzamam ul Haq, the chairperson of the selection committee will announce the World Cup Squad today at 5:30 pm in a press conference. According to the details, Abid Ali (Opener) and Pacer Muhammad Hasnain have cleared the fitness tests after failing in the first place.

Imad Wasim also has been given a second chance to pass the fitness test today after failing in the first attempt. The selected players will take place training sessions at Gaddafi stadium from April 20 to 21.

Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Coach Mickey Arthur will hold a joint press conference before departing from Gaddafi stadium on April 22. The team will later depart for England on April 23. Pakistan’s first World Cup match would be against West Indies on May 31 and it will play its second match against England on June 3.
