Pakistan’s First Solar-powered night school launched back in 2016 in Faisalabad. The main aim of the Slum School is to educate the students who live in slums and can not afford to study during daytime as they work to support themselves and their families. In order to empower those kids and youngsters with digital literacy solar-powered school light this school at night time. Presently the school is providing education to over 100 students who work during the day and study at night.

Rohayl Varind the founder of this school ensures that the timing of the school after sunset so that students are back from work, have rested a bit and can study without hindrances. Free books, bags, and food are supplied to these students.
Donations in form of money are not accepted by the Slum School, however, those who want to help can just purchase a board and start teaching the kids nearby for free.
The war is against poverty, illiteracy, and terrorism and the cure is education. This is what the school wants. To aware children, empower them and allow them to grow in their own capacity. Along with the course books, the students are taught basic ethics and etiquette. Interesting activities and days are celebrated to attract the children like Family Days, Sports Days, Ice Cream days, Mango Parties, Eid Milan Parties, Arts Classes etc. In the distribution ceremonies, children are offered chocolates, biscuits, clothes, food and other gifts.
The classes in the slum school take place outside with just a whiteboard for the teacher and a piece of cloth for the students. Rohayl Varind says “the main motive is to bring knowledge and basic level education to otherwise deprived children and adults, who would not be having even an inkling of or just meager knowledge or education otherwise”.
