After the Supreme Court gave the green signal to the Lahore Orange Line Metro train project, the work on it moved with the fast pace, towards the completion stage. It is highly anticipated that the metro train service in Pakistan will be operational by March 23rd, 2018.
A couple of months back the director land acquisition at the LDA Amir Khan said, “According to our evaluations, we hope to have the trains running by March 23rd. But this is still a tentative date. We aim to complete it in day-and-night shifts.”
In October 2017 the first shipment of the Orange Line Metro Train along with three coaches and two engines has arrived in Lahore, Pakistan. Then quite recently the news came that 27 trains will reach Pakistan. Out of the 27 trains, 19 have arrived for the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train. The remaining will be shipped to Karachi from China quite soon.
Afer Supreme Court restraining order, now the work is in full motion in Shalimar Garden, Ghulabi Bagh and Budhu’s Tomb on Grand Trunk Road & Lakshmi Building on Mcleod Road.
A couple of weeks ago National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) General Manager Salman Hafeez informed that work on Package-I Dera Gujjaran, Grand Trunk Road to Chauburji is completed 89.5%, Package-II Chauburji to Ali Town) is completed 75%, Stabling Yard near Ali Town is completed 85% and Depot near Dera Gujran is completed 86%.
Prior to this many a times, the concerned authorities of the ongoing projects set a deadline for their completion & then have changed it. Let’s hope that this time Pakistan’s first metro train project will complete by March 23rd, 2018.
Apart from this Islamabad new metro project has now reached its final stage and it is expected that the project will complete by April 2018. This project too was delayed for months but now hopefully the deadline will be met this time.
