The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has made an announcement that it would issue fresh currency notes to the general public from 1st of June for the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations.
The State Bank in collaboration with the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA) has built up an SMS short code—8877 for issuing the fresh currency notes, which would be issued from the 1st of June until the 14th of June.
As per a notification released on Tuesday, any person willing to get the new currency notes would have to send a message to 8877 along with his CNIC number and a branch code of a chosen bank. The system would respond by sending the transaction number and the branch address.

The subscriber would be required to present his original CNIC at the time of receiving the cash in fresh currency notes. Each subscriber could exchange and receive three packets of rupees ten, rupees fifty and rupees hundred each.
This facility would be available at one thousand five hundred and thirty-five commercial bank branches and the State Bank of Pakistan offices present in one hundred and thirty-two cities.
