Dr. Muhammad Farooq Wahab, a Pakistani scientist has been included in the top 40 analytical scientists in the world. A British magazine, ‘The Analytical Scientist’ has included Dr. Farooq in their 2018 Power List. The list includes names of those 40 young scientists who have brought innovation & development in the field of analytical sciences.
Dr. Farooq is the son of late Dr. Abdul Wahab. Dr. Wahab was the former vice chancellor of the University of Karachi. Dr. Farooq is presently employed at the University of Texas in Arlington, the United States of America as a research engineering scientist in the department of chemistry and biochemistry.
Dr. Farooq’s one of the proposers said, “He is a brilliant young research scientist, few have his ability to formulate experiments to better understand chromatography and separation science”.
The magazine said that Dr. Farooq has achieved world’s fastest separations in 0.5-1 cm homemade columns and he has also developed ‘peak processing’ mathematics.
Dr. Farooq won five gold medals when he did his Masters in chemistry from the University of Karachi. Then he did his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta in Canada and since then he has been working at the University of Texas.
The 40 analytical scientists selected in the 2018 Power List by The Analytical Scientist are from all over the world including the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Luxembourg.
