Murad Saeed, the Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services said that a team will leave for the UAE in a week to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). It will be an MoU for acceptance of the Pakistan-issued driving licenses in the Gulf states. After MoU will be signed, Pakistani driving licenses will be accepted in the UAE.
During the launch ceremony of an e-billing system for the National Highway Authority (NHA), he announced this. Furthermore, he added that an authority will be established for this purpose. It will have offices all over Pakistan.
The minister revealed that a similar MoU was inked between UAE and another country. This is the reason why Pakistan is planning to do the same. This initiative will open further job opportunities for Pakistani expats.
Murad Saeed said, “Obtaining a driving license in the UAE is a gigantic task, but once the agreement is signed our drivers holding the local driving license will have more job opportunities in the Gulf states as they will have no need to get another license there.”
For the first time, the e-billing system will be used to clear payments worth billions. Also, he said that appropriate details of the NHA employees will be made public through its website. The details include service history, assets, transfers, and postings
He added, “This will ultimately help in checking corruption besides saving time by 50 percent. Launching of e-billing is a step forward taken by the ministry of communications towards controlling corruption.”
