Najam Sethi, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Pakistan will host Emerging Players Asia Cup 2018. It will be held in April 2018.
PCB Chairman said “five full-member ICC countries and one qualifier will play the tournament in next year April. I hope India will come to play the tournament.”
Najam Sethi commented on Pakistan-Sri Lanka series. He said that Sri Lankan team visiting Pakistan to play last T-20 will help revive international cricket in the country. He also added that a meeting with Asian Cricket Council’s Development Committee was held in Lahore which will further create a positive image of Pakistan globally. The PCB Chairman said that history has been made in Pakistan and at this point, it is important to thank Sri Lankan Cricket Board and players for their support and cooperation to revive cricket in Pakistan.
President Sri Lanka Cricket Thilanga Sumathipala said that Sri Lanka is with Pakistan and will help the restoration of Cricket in the country. He added that Sri Lankan team is happy to play in Lahore and support cricket in Pakistan. Sumathipala further said that Pakistan is one of the biggest cricket playing nation and it cannot be ignored. He concluded that Pakistan also supported Sri Lanka during their times of unrest so both the countries stand together in times of turmoil.
Thilanga Sumathipala exact statement was “We are happy to be here in Lahore. We are here to support good cricket, Pakistan is a big cricket-playing country which can’t be ignored. We have seen extraordinary security here. We will come again for our cricket fans here. It’s an honor to play in Pakistan. One wins and another looses in cricket but what matters is that brotherly relations should be maintained between both the countries.”
After a successful T-20 match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, World XI tour, PSL matches, we do hope that India will take a step forward, visit Pakistan and play cricket in the country.
