Pakistan is to share its coronavirus experience at the high-level global forum titled “Coping with COVID-19: The Pakistan Experience“. On Tuesday this would be presented at a high-level global forum hosted by the Centre for Global Development (CGD), which is a think-tank based in Washington DC and London.
As per an official handout, it has been noted that many nations, institutions of international development, and global experts have been amazed by the exceptional experience of Pakistan during the span of coronavirus and its response to it.
It added that Pakistan has been able to show better results than most other markets that are emerging both in terms of being able to handle the curb of the virus and in managing its economic consequences.
Three of the government officials which includes the Special Assistant t to PM on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, and the State Bank of Pakistan Governor Dr. Reza Baqir would be speaking at this high-level panel discussion.
Dr. Nishtar would be informing the participants regarding the largest safety program of Pakistan “Ehsaas“. She would indicate upon the outcomes and the challenges of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program which was launched within 10 days of the coronavirus imposed lockdown.
The discussion participants include Dr. Kalipso Chalkidou-leader of the Global Health team at CGD, who has written extensively on the international response of the coronavirus, and Dr. Alan Gelb who has been managing the use of the digital ID systems in Pakistan and elsewhere for leveling up the social safety net in response to the crisis.
