Pakistan to buy MA700 Turboprop aircraft from China.
Xian Aircraft Industrial Corporation is working on a shoulder winged turboprop-powered airliner under the parent company Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). The aircraft is called Modern Ark 700 (MA700) having an ability to operate in a difficult flight environment.
Pakistan has joined in the line-up of those countries which are willing to buy this aircraft costing around $25 million. The countries include South Africa, Bahrain, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia and now Pakistan.
It has a capacity of 86 passengers and can reach a speed of 640 km/hr, having a range of 2700km. This aircraft is a direct competition with the French ATR 72, Ilyushin IL-114, and Canadian Bombardier Q series. The company that built it, aims to get a 20percent share of the global turboprop regional aircraft market by 2026.
The capabilities which are present in this aircraft are very ideal for PIA’s domestic flights. Pakistan Air force and Pakistan army both can use it as it is built for operating in difficult situations.
So far, the company has received 285 orders from eleven clients which also includes Pakistan wishing to add a third member to its MA series that also boasts MA60 and MA600. 5100 horsepower
MA700 is powered by 2 Pratt and Whitney Canada PW150C turboprop engines generating. This aircraft is best for high altitudes, high temperatures and short runway conditions.
On the other hand, as per the latest development, PIA is to start direct flights to Germany, Frankfurt and to the other Scandinavian countries.
