Pakistan is aiming to enhance trade and investment relations with Sri Lanka to enhance bilateral ties.
In a recent tweet, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said:
In line with our policy of enhancing regional trade and connectivity, a delegation of prominent businessmen has arrived in Sri Lanka for the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan on February 23-24, 2021,
The adviser also said that Sri Lanka is a very important country for Pakistan as “we signed our first-ever Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with it”.
During the visit, the Pakistani delegation will discuss the whole spectrum of bilateral trade and economic relations. It is also said that a trade and investment conference would be held in Colombo on February 24.
The adviser further said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to reactivate the forum of Joint Working Groups (JWGs) to redress technical matters pending between the two sides for promoting trade liberalization to increase bilateral trade.
The next JWG meeting is said to be held during the first half of the current year.
