Pakistan Surpasses China in COVID-19 Cases

Coronavirus cases and deaths from it are increasing day by day. On Wednesday, over 5000 new COVID-19 cases were reported and 76 people died due to the deadly virus. Pakistan has surpassed China in terms of the total number of COVID-19 cases. In China, to date, 83,021 cases have been reported while in Pakistan 83,292 cases were reported. So far, 1729 people have died due to the novel coronavirus in the country.

On Wednesday, the Punjab PML-N MPA Shaukat Manzoor Cheema was amongst 30 casualties due to Covid-19. This raised the total number of deaths in Punjab due to coronavirus to 570.

Other than this, 162 healthcare workers are amongst the new COVID-19 cases. This has increased the number of confirmed healthcare worker cases in Punjab to 562.

Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, Jinnah Hospital Lahore chapter President Dr. Rameez Chaudhry said,  “The hospital is filled to capacity with regard to Covid-19 patients.”

1639 new cases were reported in Punjab in the last 24 hours, this is the highest number of cases in the province since the pandemic outbreak. It surged the number of patients that tested positive for the virus to 29,489 so far in the province.

Deaths reported in Punjab include 212 from Lahore, 120 from Rawalpindi, 71 from Multan, 47 from Faisalabad, 37 from Gujranwala, 16 from Gujrat, 12 from Rahim Yar Khan, 10 from Sargodha, 8 from Bahawalpur, 6 each from Sialkot and Sahiwal, 3 from Jhang, Muzaffargarh and Toba Tek Singh each, 2 from Hafizabad, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura and Narowal, 1 from Attock, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Khushab, Kasur, Jhelum, Mianwali, and Rajanpur each.
