In regards to the affirmation of the trust that the international community has got in Pakistan and its long standing positive contributions for boosting the educational and cultural cooperation between the countries, Pakistan has been re-elected to the executive board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization—UNESCO, as per the reports of local media.
As per the details, Pakistan won the slot by securing 154 votes for the next 4-year span (2019-2023) in an election that was held yesterday at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.

The foreign Office spokesperson—Muhammad Faisal tweeted regarding the achievement as trust reposed in Pakistan.
As per a statement, the ambassador of Pakistan to France and the permanent representative to UNESCO—Moin ul Haque termed the re-election as a testimony to the country’s strong commitment towards acquiring the goals and objectives of UNESCO.
It is important to mention that Pakistan enjoys the distinction of being a continuous member of the executive board of UNESCO since 1978.
The UNESCO members of the executive board are selected by the General Conference as per a system of regional grouping.
