Pakistan has been re-elected for the second time to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) board of governors. At the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, the elections were held. The delegation was led by Muhammad Naeem who is the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Chairman.

There are 35 members of the IAEA board of governors. 11 of the 35 members are elected for a two year period.
Basically, IAEA is a global organization aiming to promote the use of nuclear energy in a peaceful manner. The organization makes sure that the nuclear energy is not used for any military purpose. IAEA has to report to the UN General Assembly and Security Council.
