Pakistan has been ranked amongst the top countries in Asia having the highest response to social protection during the COVID-19 crisis. This was revealed at a global conference hosted by the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG).
The study was undertaken by UNICEF, UN, and IPC-IG in order to evaluate the social protection response in Asia. The focus was on thorough mapping and overview of how the social protection measures were deployed by different countries in Asia and the Pacific region amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the report, in the study, it was unveiled that Pakistan has the most responses to social protection in Asia via Ehsaas Emergency Cash.
The researcher from the IPC-IG team Marina Andrade said, “Afghanistan included many humanitarian interventions; hence Pakistan tops the list.”
Furthermore stating, “South Asian countries had a larger number of social protection responses to COVID19 when compared with other Asian nations.”
