Pakistan Railways to Operate Summer Vacation Trains

The Pakistan Railways would be operating “Summer Vacation Special Trains” between the city of lights Karachi and Rawalpindi for providing ease to the commuters which also includes students. The main objective behind these trains is to facilitate the passengers specially families who are intending to travel to various destinations for enjoying the summer break.

Raza Ali Habib—the Rawalpindi Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) said that Pakistan Railways had made all the needed arrangements for running the summer special trains alongside announcing five special trains for Eid-ul-Fitr. The fifth special Eid train has departed today at 7am from Multan Cantonment. The train would be reaching Rawalpindi today at 10:15pm.

He further added that the Special Trains would be made operational immediately after the Eid-ul-Fitr and would run on the 18th, 22nd ,26th and 30th of June from Rawalpindi to Karachi at 2:30pm, while on return these trains would run from Karachi to Rawalpindi on the 20th, 24th and 28th of June at 8pm.

The trains would be stopping at Hyderabad—Rohri—Khanpur—Bahawalpur—Khanewal—Sahiwal—Okara—Raiwind—Lahore—Gujranwala—Wazirabad—Gujrat—Lalamusa and Jhelum, as informed by Raza Ali Habib.

The Summer Vacation Trains would comprise of A/C Business, A/C standard and the Economy classes coaches. He also said that armed personnel have been placed at the railway station.

He also mentioned that security arrangements had been tightened with police officials deployed in civilian dresses to keep an eye on suspicious persons. Uniformed officials have also been positioned for frisking the passengers as they enter the station.

The complete parking lot is also being monitored by thirty-two high-definition CCTV cameras besides from installing floodlights.

Computerized barriers have also been installed for making sure that the checking is done properly and for keeping records of all the visitors including the driver, the vehicle and the number plate.
